Wuxi Scientific Research & Design Institute of the State Administration of Grain (Wuxi institute), which was founded in 1964, is a national comprehensive research institute who is well known at home and abroad as being committed to application research, engineering consultation, engineering design, engineering supervision, general project contracting and manufacturing of complete sets of equipment for the grain, oil and food processing plants. Since its establishment the institute has been affiliated to Ministry of Grain, Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Internal Trade, State Administration of Grain Reserve and State Administration of Grain. By now it belongs to China Oil & Foodstuffs Corporation (COFCO) – one of world’s top 500 enterprises. Over more than 40 years and through generations of relentless effort the institute has carved out successful experience in remodeling traditional grain, oil, food and feedstuff processing industry with new and sophisticated technology. With its prestigious reputation, its customers are widely spreading over 31 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions of the country and 15 overseas countries and regions such as Australia, Italy, etc.

Wuxi Scientific Research & Design Institute of the State Administration of Grain has been appointed by State Administration of Grain as Wuxi Grain, Oil, Food & Feed Quality Supervision & Inspection Center and Engineering Technology Research Center for Grain & Oil Processing Equipments. It is also awarded by Jiangsu Provincial government as High-tech enterprise. And the Food branch and Oil branch of the China Grain & Oil Association are affiliated to the institute.  Wuxi institute is granted various qualifications and certificates for offering services of consulting, designing and undertaking of engineering projects of different scales, such as Class-A qualification certificate of engineering consultation, Class-A qualification certificate of engineering design for commerce, material, grain and construction project, Class-A qualification certificate of general project contracting, Class-B qualification certificate of engineering supervision and equipment supervision, Grade-2 qualification certificate of Electromechanical Equipment Installment and so on. It is also certified and approved to have successfully passed the testing of quality control system ISO9001 as well as the testing of low voltage electric equipment and it is granted 3C certificate.

Wuxi institute has more than 500 employees, who work together to offer technical services with high quality and expertise. Within 200 technicians and engineers, there are 5 senior experts entitled to state subsidies, 12 Professor senior engineers and more than 100 senior technicians who are registered consultant engineers, chemical engineers, electrical engineers, architects, structural engineers or supervision engineers and so on. The institute’s main business departments include Grain Engineering Department, Rice Engineering Department, Oil Engineering Department, Biochemical Engineering Department, New Product R&D Department, Automation Engineering Department, Architectural Design Office, Civil Building Design Office, Civil Construction & Steel Structure Engineering Department, International Department and Supervision Department. It has two subsidiary companies: Zhong-he Industrial Company (Wuxi) and Changshu oil & fat equipments manufacture.

Since its founding Wuxi institute has undertook numerous Sci-tech key tasks during the period of the 6th to 11th national five-year plans and important scientific and technical researching assignments at ministerial and provincial levels and has finished more than 600 scientific and technological achievements. Such as 3 prizes at national congress of science, 1 national prizes of inventions, 10 national prizes for scientific and technological progress and over 100 prizes at ministerial and provincial levels. It has claimed more than 50 patents including 8 patents of invention, and drafted /mended over 100 national standards.
